PLP 011: Wade Sutton from the Six Minute Music Business Podcast

Today we talk with Wade Sutton who hosts the Six-Minute Music Business Podcast, one of the two podcasts I listen to daily. Wade offers incredibly practical advice for musicians in a short but entertaining format.

In addition to running his stellar podcast, Wade is the founder of Rocket to the Stars, an artist services record label with clients throughout the world. He works with aspiring and professional musicians by providing top-level services ranging from biography and press release writing to designing sponsorship proposal decks to creating websites and press kits. He also helps with their live performances and the production of their shows.

Wade’s strategies have been featured on top websites such as CD Baby and Discmakers. One of his articles, “Musicians: Get a Real Job!”, was named by CD Baby as one of the top ten articles for 2015. He’s also appeared on CD Baby’s DIY Podcast and has been a guest on webinars hosted by Berklee Online founder Dave Kusek and online marketing expert Michael Brandvold (KISS, Dream Theater, Britney Spears).

In 2014, Wade published “The $150,000 Music Degree” which he co-authored with former Taylor Swift manager Rick Barker. His second book, “Hacking Music” is co-authored with John Pisciotta of Jetpack Artist Ventures in Nashville and includes contributions from hit songwriter Brent Baxter and former Tim McGraw keyboard player Jeff McMahon.

In addition to being an advocate for music artists, Wade is also an active speaker. He has spoken at several workshops in Nashville and was a featured speaker during the 2018 Music Entrepreneur Conference at Harvard University.
