Today on the Producer Life Podcast I’m joined by Chris Michaels, otherwise known as Cryptochronica. Cryptochronica is Chris’ glitch fusion project. A sonic weaver, Michaels blends genre and style into the glitchy bass fabric that defines Cryptochronica’s sound. Omnitempo and maximalist, Cryptochronica sets seamlessly thread funk, soul, rock, reggae, hip-hop and downtempo with the heavy bass styles of the underground.
Most recently, Chris was included on the Anamalia EP from the Producer Dojo and curated by Kermode. The EP charted #2 on Beatport in leftfield bass. Additionally, Chris is a Sensei at the Producer Dojo and an amazing teacher, and in this first of a two-part interview we talk about his musical roots, different types of DJ performances, and why his mom doesn’t understand EDM.
