PLP 042: 6TH STREET Music on Punchy Kicks, Sidechains, and Magic Plugins

In this week’s episode, Richard Wang of 6TH STREET Music helps me finish an upcoming EDM track. During the episode, we talk about ways to help your kick punch through the mix, places to watch for mud, his favorite “magic” plugins, and why he doesn’t trust his sidechains. There was so much good material he shared, I consolidated it into this podcast.

PLP 035: Mixing with Producer Dojo Sensei Trap Jesus

Everyone needs a mentor. One of mine is Trap Jesus, also known as Luke Rain, and we recently had a terrific Zoom session where he explained his mixing process in detail. I found the session so interesting, I had to share it with you and Luke generously agreed to let me use the audio. In this episode we geek out how to mix a track and dive into the weeds on compression, limiting, and workflow.

PLP 014: SUBPAC Review

Is a SUBPAC worth it? In December 2019 I purchased a SUBPAC S2 on Amazon while it was on sale. The SUBPAC is like a giant rumble pack on a videogame controller: you put it on the back of your chair and it vibrates to bass frequencies. At around $300 dollars, this is a pretty expensive piece of studio gear. In this episode of the Producer Life Podcast I’ll be sharing my thoughts after several months of use.
